Help me name this delicious cocktail…

We recently visited this restaurant called Masti in Toco Hills shopping center. It’s a fun Indian American fusion place that we may do a post about someday – for now I’ll just tell you about their “Sharabi Lassi” aka a boozy mango lassi aka Nick’s new favorite cocktail. It consists of mango lassi, coconut rum and a splash of Bailey’s Irish Cream. Simultaneously creamy and refreshing!

Since this new fave cocktail is a recent discovery and we have been working a lot –

Char

We went to the new Korean BBQ place in Inman park yesterday…and yes this is still a vegetarian food blog. My phone died so the pictures are terrible a la nicks terrible camera phone. 20160929_193417The food was much better.

The Korean bbq thing has been the thing for a minute now, a craze that we have watched from afar, scoffing out loud but shedding a silent tear that we have no fad to jump on other than another fucking fried brussel sprout (those are good though).

Easy Party Hors d’Oeuvres!

20170415_191423-1

We threw a party last week and one of the things we were most excited (/daunted) about was cooking for it. We did a bread station with different topping options, a lot of chips and dips and then a couple of hors d’ouerve. I wanted to include a couple of the things we made here as they are incredibly easy, attractive, and above all tasty!

ATL Veggie Burger Judgement Day: Urban Pl8

20161210_133535-120161210_133351We went to Urban Pl8 because we had 4 people recommend the nut burger to us. Urban Pl8 is situated within Krog Street market – we made the terrible mistake of deciding do our visit on a Saturday – and anybody from Atlanta knows to avoid pcm or ksm like the plague on the weekends unless you want to be constantly reminded that this ain’t yo’ town no more. For some reason (probably because $15 paleo isn’t as in as a $4 korean bun concept) Urban PL8 had no line and was actually pretty dead despite the hustle and bustle and long lines lines around us –

Mum’s Cheese Scones

20170304_163309Like crepes and bangers & mash, my mum’s cheese scones were a cornerstone of my childhood. Delicious and soft with a perfect cheesy top crust and a hint of spicy – the exact recipe has morphed over the years with some hints from some sage women from our village back home (yes, really). I am convinced these are amongst the best simple foods in the worlds – imagine the sacred southern biscuit for us Englishies –

Madras Mantra

20170108_202314

20170108_201730 20170108_201335Once upon a time there was a magical restaurant off of Lawrenceville Highway called Madras Saravana Bhavan. It was one of the few restaurants serving fantastic south Indian dosa – a crispy crepe made from black gram (a black mung bean kinda thing) and rice and then filled with something delicious – often curried potato, onion, paneer – basically all the good things. It was the spot for many Decatur families and how us young’uns luckily got inculcated regularly with the amazingness of Indian fare.

Our Favorite Lasagna

20160611_211002

Since I started this blog it has become even more apparent to me that we are serious Italian food lovers. This is yet another Italian recipe, my lasagna – and I’m convinced it can stand up to any meat one – nay, destroy any meaty one as it is hearty AND healthy (healthier – you know I would never recommend skimping on the necessary fats, one of the best parts about this is the drooling mozzarella).

Spicy Garlic White Bean Dip

20170205_175057

What makes this spicy? The cayanne, garlic and the sriracha – so if you’re into that garlic-y spice this will be perfect for you. I made this at the last minute for a superbowl party (boo, worst results everrr) and was surprised at how much of a hit it was – an awesome dude even came up to us before leaving and said “yo, if I don’t see you again I just want you to know y’all brought the best food”

Rainbow Natural Foods – Heaven on earth?

20161001_142608If you have been a vegetarian in Atlanta for long you most20161001_142555 likely are very familiar with Rainbow Natural Foods. When I was a wee thing Rainbow and Sevananda were the few establishments offering fantastic fresh foods for us vegheads. Other than the obviously amazing hot+cold fresh bar, my mainstays are the chinese sesame noodle salad and the spicy gingerade, and if you ask them nice they might just make you a custom mock-chicken salad sandwich (usually pre-made as a wrap) which is so very tasty.
