Red and Green Pesto!

My mum’s excess food purchases seem to inspire a lot of my cooking nowadays. I’ve always said that from the amount she cooks she should have had 5 boys. She got stuck with one overfed lil’ lady who loves to cook too!pesto

This week, she bought industrial-sized bags of walnuts and pine nuts. I went for the first thing that you would think of with pine nuts (apart from maybe Spanakopita) and surprise,

The Reuby (can you just name a sandwich after yourself like that?)

IMG_20160721_133342Aside from the name people always accidentally call me, the reuben is also supposedly a very tasty sandwich. 20160720_143208-1

I love sandwiches so very much (I’m just gonna drop this here). Wiki’s page “List of Sandwiches” is legitimately exciting to me – the ‘broodje kroket, ‘yakisoba-pan‘, the ‘carrozza‘! Miso Izakaya

20160603_194845After last weeks foray into ramen, our appetites were piqued to try something asian and new so we went to Miso Izakaya. I’m a little slow on the uptake here as this place has been on the map as a go-to for a while…like over seven years a while.  My coworker years ago used to rave about it and there looked to be enough veg options so good ’nuff for me!

Souper Ramen with Crispy Fried Ginger Tofu

I decided to look up restaurants around me that would allow me to at long last hop on the ramen craze that has been around for so long.

Souper RamenIt can be difficult to find restaurants that can balance vegetarianism whilst still maintaining authenticity and respect for the original recipe. Some cuisines struggle with this more than others. I wasn’t expecting to find this problem with ramen but alas, from my brief search I found mainly only that sad token mushroom broth if anything at all.

Welcome to VEGFORK!

carrot_cumin_soupThis is our vegetarian food blog. Finally.

In this incredibly informal blog, we will mainly be posting pictures and recipes from the food adventures we have at home. The aim is to explore the fundamentals of recipes as a basis to play and expand the vegetarian repertoire. Basically, I hope for you to be able to be a fly on the wall as I faff about in the kitchen learning things.

We also like to experience other chefs attempts at a satisfying vegetarian meal.
