Our Favorite Popcorn

Popcorn has always been one of those distinctly American things that I’ve never understood why people love so much…like chimineas and samoas, all very meh to me. This past year I have had some distinct culinary changes; I like green olives, I seem to have more of a sweet tooth, I cant eat tofu anymore (makes me so sad) and last but not least, I kind of get the whole popcorn thing…it’s due to this amazing Jamaican restaurant in Atlanta, amongst delicious vegan mac, the absolute best pumpkin curry and peas and rice, they serve they serve this addictive popcorn. It’s a delicious mix of spicy-salty-curry SO GOOD. We set about trying to replicate it for a party and it was a hit. I hope you love it as much as I do and it will help with some not-too-guilty snacking!

Chelsea's Copycat Popcorn

  • berbere, 1tsp (you can use cayenne instead)
  • curry powder, 1tsp
  • cumin, 1tsp
  • nutritional yeast, 1tbsp
  • oil, 2 tbsp
  • popcorn, 1/4 cup
  • vegan butter, 1 tbsp

Mix together your dry ingredients and put to the side. Cook your popcorn however you like, I like to do it old school in the saucepan with the oil. After its done pour the butter in and toss then pour your spice mix in and toss.
